Our “DNA”—Mission, Vision, Core Beliefs, and Values

Our Mission
Grace Church lives to love Jesus Christ and share His love with all people so that they may come to know and follow Him.

Our Vision
Our vision is to be a people whose shared passion is to draw others to love and follow Jesus, whose joy is to see people grow as mature disciples surrounded by loving friendships, and whose success is to release people to pursue whatever Christ calls them to do in His world.  This is how we go about drawing all people to God’s love and mending life in the Shoals and in the world.

Our Foundational Beliefs
The Bible is Holy Scripture, uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, the supreme and final authority on all matters of faith and life.  It is this sure foundation which leads us to believe:

*In one God, who created and sustains all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the Trinity).

*That Jesus Christ, the Son, was God in flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary.

*That the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin and empowers the believer to preach and teach the good news of Jesus Christ.

*That mankind was created in the image of God but sinned, resulting in physical and spiritual death, which is separation from God.

*That the Lord Jesus Christ suffered physical death, in our place, for our sins, according to the Scriptures and that those who believe and trust in Him are justified on the basis of His sacrifice.

*That Jesus Christ is the resurrected, ascended, and living Lord of all.

*That the true Church is composed of all persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, are united in the body of Christ.

*That Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead, fulfilling Scripture and the eternal plan of God.

*That the Lord Jesus Christ commissions all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations by living a life of love and service.

Our Core Values
These values are central to us as we seek to go about doing our mission and keeping our vision clear.  We value:

*People as the most important resource to God’s church.

*People’s diversity, because all are unique, made in God’s image, and are to be treated with respect and dignity.

*The spiritual gifts that each person brings to the church body.

*Unity in mission and faith.

*Spiritual leadership that is characterized by gratitude and humility.

*Leaders who, in their ministry, equip, encourage, and empower believers to step out in faith, multiplying the church’s ability to carry out its mission.

*Ministering in new ways, through groups and teams, because it enables us to extend our mission to greater numbers of people.

*Excellence in all ministries, because we seek to respond to God with only the best of our efforts.

*Tradition because it reveals our spiritual roots and provides a baseline for measuring growth and direction.

*Evangelism and witness, social action and justice as complementary ministries.

*Dependence on God to supply all our needs.

*Generosity in our stewardship of God’s spiritual gifts, callings, abilities, talents, wealth, time, and opportunity.

*Growing in understanding of our faith, accomplished through daily prayer, study, worship, and life application.

*Helping each other grow and mature spiritually through study and friendships developed in small groups.

*The personal experience of God’s grace through Jesus Christ, an invitation offered to everyone.

*Nurturing and ministering to children and adolescents as a church family.
